Lost Property Procedure
We understand how stressful it can be to lose personal belongings. At Drive Chauffeur, we follow a strict process to ensure any items left in our vehicles are recorded, safely stored, and returned to you as quickly as possible.
Passenger reporting process
If you believe you have left an item in one of our chauffeur vehicles, please complete the online Lost Property Form immediately. To help us track down your item, please provide:
- Your booking reference number
- The date, time, and route of your journey
- A clear description of the missing item (color, brand, or unique features)
Driver & office guidelines
In line with local private hire licensing standards, our drivers and office team operate under strict tracking rules:
- Vehicle Checks: Drivers are required to check the passenger cabin thoroughly after the termination of every single journey.
- Logging Items: Any found items must be reported and logged with our central office within 24 hours.
- Storage: Property is securely stored with booking logs for up to 3 months before disposal or charity donation.
Return & collection
To safely claim your lost property, our team handles returns using the following framework:
- Verification: To claim an item, you must provide proof of identity and a matching description of the property.
- Collection: Items can be collected directly from our office by appointment, or we can arrange a courier return. Please note that passengers are responsible for covering delivery or driver mileage costs.
Guildford Borough Council alignments
Drive Chauffeur works in close cooperation with our local licensing authority to resolve passenger inquiries.
The Guildford Borough Council Licensing Team maintains an external register of public lost property inquiries. If you contact the council regarding a lost item, they will reach out to us directly to cross-reference our internal logs. We ensure all records are updated daily to support these investigations immediately.
